Senior Photos: Your Burning Questions Answered!

Hey, hey, seniors! Your big day is coming up, and I know the questions are swirling. What if the weather goes wild? What if your skin decides to betray you at the last second? Don’t stress—I’ve got all the answers right here so you can relax and focus on bringing that effortless, glowing confidence to your shoot!

What If the Weather Has a Mind of Its Own?

Ah, Michigan. One minute it’s sunny and perfect, the next, you’re caught in an unexpected downpour. The good news? We won’t make any hasty decisions. I wait until we’re about 24 hours out before making the final call. If there’s a 50% chance of rain or less, it’s totally up to you! Some of my favorite sessions have happened in a light drizzle—think adorable umbrella moments and a little extra magic in the air. But if you’re dreaming of golden light and glowing skies, rescheduling is always an option. If the chance of rain climbs higher than 50%, I’d recommend playing it safe and moving your session to another day.

Wind? We’ll make the call together based on the location you’ve chosen. Some spots offer great wind protection, while others might turn your hair into a wild, untamed masterpiece (which can be fun… but not always what you’re going for!). If the gusts are just too much, we can find a better day. Fog? This one’s all about the vibe! If you’re into those dreamy, moody, editorial-style shots, fog can add some serious magic. But if you’re after bright and airy, we may want to adjust the timing or reschedule to make sure you get the light you love.

Cloudy days? They are chef’s kiss perfection—soft, even lighting, no harsh shadows, and a break from the heat. Win-win!

Breakout Emergency!

We’ve all been there—your skin decides to throw a tantrum right before your big moment. Don’t panic! I’ll take care of any unexpected visitors in Photoshop, so no one will ever know. If you have any scars, marks, or anything else you’d like me to touch up, just let me know! My goal is always to keep you looking like YOU, just with a little extra polish.

Where Do I Change?

Senior sessions are all about variety, which means outfit changes! Most seniors opt for the classic quick-change in the car—pro tip: organize your outfits ahead of time to make things easier. If that’s not your vibe, I’ve got a pop-up tent for privacy, or we can choose locations with public restrooms. Just let me know what you’re most comfortable with!

Should I Get a Spray Tan?

Tempting, I know. But unless you’re a seasoned pro at the spray tan game, I say skip it! Even the best spray tans can sometimes turn orange or streaky, and that’s not the look we’re going for. If you want a little extra glow, try a gradual tanning lotion —it builds up naturally and won’t leave you looking patchy or overdone.

Help! I Got a Sunburn!

Oof. If you’re looking like a tomato or your skin is starting to peel, we should definitely reschedule. Sunburns are nearly impossible to edit in a way that looks natural, and you deserve to feel your best in your photos. Give your skin a little time to heal, and we’ll pick a new date when you’re back to glowing in the best way possible!

Still have questions? Shoot me a message! I can’t wait to capture your senior year and make it a session you’ll never forget!
