Senior Photo Session in Cassopolis, Michigan: Travis’s Senior Portraits
Sometimes, the weather cooperates just when you need it most.
I met up with Travis at the beginning of spring break, just before that looming yearbook deadline for his senior photo session. It had been drizzling all day, and I was preparing for a soggy shoot. But as luck would have it, the clouds parted, and we were able to catch a rare break in the rain just as we had scheduled.
The session took place in Travis’s hometown of Cassopolis, Michigan, a small town with rich history and charm. We started at the Cass County Courthouse, a historic building that has stood since 1899. The courthouse, with its Romanesque architecture and iconic clock tower, provided a timeless backdrop for Travis’s senior portraits. The historic setting highlighted the milestone that Travis is about to reach—graduating and stepping into the next chapter of his life.
Next, we explored the Pioneer Log Cabin Museum and its nearby pavilion in Shoestring Park. The museum, built in 1923, offers a glimpse into early settler life in Cassopolis. Although we didn’t go inside, the pavilion and surrounding parkland made for an excellent setting, with Stone Lake providing a beautiful backdrop for some of Travis’s photos.
We also spent some time at the docks along Stone Lake, where the overcast skies and calm waters created a peaceful, moody vibe. The lake's serene atmosphere added depth to the photos, with the soft light and reflective surface of the water allowing Travis’s laid-back personality to shine through.
As we wrapped up, the clouds began to gather again, signaling the return of rain. It felt like the weather had granted us just the right amount of time to capture beautiful, meaningful moments. Despite the unpredictable weather, this senior photo session in Cassopolis was a success, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to photograph Travis. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, Travis!
